Crosswords Brunch, Part 2


Part 2 of the video that documents a common pastime that I had on Sundays back when a local bar & restaurant called Juke’s was still open.

Many of us wàiguórén (foreigners) do crossword puzzles here, to the bafflement of some locals. Several times I’ve been asked why we do it. Doing crosswords gives us comfort; lets us dive in to a mental oasis of English words. It’s a refreshing break from my normal daily life here, in which I’m a relative idiot surrounded by fluent Mandarin speakers.
