Death of the Bayou
Carolyn Coco Schwarzhoff has shared with us some very beautiful shots of the remains of the college bar called The Bayou. These photos, taken just after the famous bar burned down in 2002, are a brief elegy to the beloved LSU watering hole that was featured in Stephen Soderberg’s now-classic film, Sex, Lies, and Videotape.
From an email from the photographer in 2002: “One of my most vivid memories was sitting at the bar talking to Stephen Soderbergh, before he hit the big time. We watched the Wizard of Oz at the bar, and we were trading off lines because the sound was turned down and we both knew almost all of them... And so many good bands played there...even REM, before they got big.”
